Digital Marketing Tips for Small Business Owners
Most digital marketing tips for small business owners are written by people who have never had to make a modest monthly ad budget work. This blog is the opposite. Every post here comes out of campaigns I run myself in Google Ads, local SEO, paid social, retail media, and email marketing.
I am Melissa, the consultant behind Visionary Search, based in Plano, Texas and working with businesses across Dallas Fort Worth. My focus is CPG brands, lead generation, and hospitality. After more than 20 years in digital acquisition, I keep coming back to one question: did the spend produce customers? That is the lens on everything you will read here.
Expect plain English breakdowns of Google Ads changes and what they do to your cost per click, budget benchmarks by industry, local SEO and Local Service Ads guidance for service businesses, and honest takes on when a channel is not worth your money.
Start with any post below. If you would rather hand the work to someone, see what I offer on the services page or reach out through the contact page.
A quick note on how I pick topics. When Google ships a change, I wait for real data. Then I test it on live accounts. Only after that does it show up here.
You will also find posts built around questions clients ask me every week. How much should I spend? Why did my cost per lead jump? Is Performance Max worth it yet? Straight answers to those are hard to find in one place, so I write them down.
Want more digital marketing tips for small business owners straight from the source? Google publishes its own product updates in the Google Ads Help Center. I read it so you do not have to.
